Our interactive Tennis Time Travellers package takes learners back to life in the Victorian era to the 1920s for a day of storytelling, costumes, and studying archival materials.
In addition to hearing about Wimbledon's role in the creation of lawn tennis, students will learn how the development of the All England Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club reflected the wider growth of the railroads and changes to the surrounding area. Our Learning Facilitators will guide the group through a look at the fashions for both men and women of the time, reading parts of the 1901 census to understand how the region was changing as result of the extension of the railroad, and dressing up and participating in a town meeting to discuss the possibility of a new location for the tournament. The visit also includes a tour of the iconic Grounds and visit to the Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Museum.
